You’re invited - Here’s what you can expect from your visit with us

Our mission is to help religious and irreligious people become gospel people. We strive to be a healthy, thriving, gospel-centered, Spirit-empowered people of faith. At the same time, we’re a bunch of messed up sinners who desperately need Jesus. Our Sunday gatherings are our primary time to meet together as a faith family to pray, sing, and hear the Word of God shared. With those things in mind, here are some things that you might want to know for your first visit:

  • We seek to be a church where it’s safe to explore life’s most challenging questions about God, life and meaning in relationships with others who care. No matter where you’re from, what you’re going through, or where you’re at in your faith journey – City on a Hill is here for you. So, whether you consider yourself a seeker, skeptic or seasoned Christian, you are invited to join us at City on a Hill Church. We’ve saved a seat for you.

  • The whole service lasts about 60-75 minutes. It includes songs, prayer, a sermon, communion, and a benediction. You should feel free to participate as much or as little as you like. Our services are open to all people and we tend to have people join us from all sorts of spiritual backgrounds and at different places in their faith journey.

  • Our worship style includes both contemporary songs and traditional hymns. We also do responsive readings regularly. We hope to bring the historic Christian faith to modern ears in a way that is beautiful and engaging.

  • Dress is casual, just be yourself.

  • We follow local guidelines for COVID prevention. Masks are optional for our gatherings, per the city ordinances of Boston and Newton. Please use your personal discretion regarding masks during our gatherings. No distancing or preregistration required.

Parking:

There is free parking available at 1845 Commonwealth Ave, Brighton, MA 02135 as well as numerous spots for free street parking. Our greeter team will be happy to meet you in the church lobby and help you with whatever you need.

Kids:

We believe kids ministry is so much more than childcare. We want kids to come away knowing that they are loved by God. In a safe environment, we use fun, engaging and age-specific activities to show them the good news of Jesus and how much they are loved at CoaH kids.

Our CoaH Kids ministry will be available for children ages 3 months through Kindergarten during our Sunday gathering. Each of our adult volunteers have been trained and have gone through an interview process as well as a national background check to ensure that all kids will be safe, have fun and learn about the good news of Jesus with kind and caring leaders.

So, when you walk in the front doors, you will be greeted by trained team members to guide you through the process of checking in your child and finding the classroom. Each guardian and their child will receive an ID sticker with a claim tag and a unique code to care best for your family. Let us know if you have any questions by clicking here. We look forward to meeting you soon!
